The course will include over 3 hours of practical sessions.Candidates will inspect and test a wide variety of portable electrical appliances including domestic equipment, power tools, IEC leads, office and IT equipment using many different models of appliance tester.

    • Risks & precautions against electrical shock

    • Frequency of PAT testing 

    • Class of appliances 

    • Safety risks & Typical faults 

    • Formal visual inspections 

    • Plug checks & fuse ratings 

    • Combined inspection & testing 

    • Earth bond continuity tests

    • Insulation resistance tests

    • Protective conductor/touch current 

    • Load/run testing 

    • Testing office PC's & IT equipment

    • Pass & fail labeling 

    • Result recording and maintenance of records

  • Structure

    This is a one day course will be undertaken at Harlow Study Centre, Netteswellbury Farm, Harlow CM18 6BW and will run from 0900 - 1530. The course will be made up of both practical and theory work. 

  • Information

    • Candidates will receive a certificate of competence in PAT Testing

    • As there is a practical element to this course, we recommend candidates bring/wear Safety Boots  

    • Candidates are welcome to bring their own PAT Testing equipment with them. 

    • The course will include Lunch and refreshments
