Abrasive Wheels

The course is for persons using abrasive wheels - includes hand held equipment and bench grinders. Identifies the causes of accidents and maintenance of equipment.

      Our Abrasive Wheels training course is for persons who use abrasive wheels in their work activities, including hand-held equipment and bench grinders. Identifies the causes of accidents, precautions to be taken when using the equipment and the safe storage and maintenance of the equipment. Topics follow training guidance given in HSG17.

    • Structure

      This is a half day course.

      Topics covered include:

      • Hazards and risks arising from the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions to be observed;

      • Methods of marking abrasive wheels with their type, size and maximum operating speed;

      • How to store, handle and transport abrasive wheels;

      • How to inspect and test abrasive wheels for damage;

      • The functions of all the components used with abrasive wheels such as flanges, blotters, bushes, nuts etc.;

      • The correct adjustment of the work rest on pedestal or bench grinding machines;

      • The use of suitable personal protective equipment, for example eye protection.

      • our purpose-built training facility in Woodbridge, Suffolk, or

      • your own premises.
