NEBOSH Diploma Module A

Course Overview

The NEBOSH National Diploma provides the core health and safety knowledge transferable across industry, commerce and the public sector.

Module A covers all the subjects associated with Managing Health and Safety.

Duration and Structure

17 days including 2 days of revision.

The course is run on a day release basis (i.e. 1 day per week) over an 18-month period, and covers the following subjects:-

  • Principals of Health and Safety management;
  • Loss causation and incident investigation;
  • Identifying hazards, assessing and evaluating risk;
  • Risk control and emergency planning;
  • Organisational factors;
  • Human factors;
  • Principals of Health and Safety law;
  • Criminal law;
  • Civil law;
  • Measuring Health and Safety performance.

Examinations are in January and July.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements; however, the syllabus assumes a broad basic knowledge of health and safety.

Achievement of the NEBOSH General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking the Diploma course is highly recommended.
